GOP Can Not Always Count On Scott Brown-And That Is Good

Sen.-elect Scott Brown (R-Mass.) told the Associated Press that he will not be a lock-step member of the Republican minority in the senate. And he said that he will on occasion vote with the Democrats.
Overall, that is what makes Sen.-elect Brown who he is. An independent vote that will not tie his fate to the Beltway Republicans.
After all, Sen.-elect Brown did win his seat with the help of independents, Democrats and a very small Republican party in Massachusetts.
Here is a money quote from Sen.-elect Brown while talking with Senate Minority leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ken.) and Senate Minority whip Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.):

"I already told them, you know, `I got here with the help of a close group of friends and very little help from anyone down there, so there'll be issues when I'll be with you and there are issues when I won't be with you,'"

That is important.
Because Sen.-elect Brown did not get a lot of help from the Republican party. Yes, he got some. But the bulk of his financial and volunteer support came from outside the Republican establishment. Thus, Sen.-elect Brown will not have feel obliged to always be with the Republican senators.
As I noted in this post, people are trying to figure out Sen.-elect Brown. I absolutely believe that Sen.-elect Brown is the New England Sarah Palin. And by that I mean independent. One that has a firm sense of belief and self. One that will buck the establishment.
While the Obamawhore media went on an all out Jihad to paint former Gov. Palin as some kind of knuckle-dragging dolt, it never actually looked at her record as city councilman, mayor and governor. She was a conservative. But, she did not let the Republican establishment in Alaska get to call their corrupt shots.
And that is what I find refreshing about Sen.-elect Brown. That he is a conservative. He will not always vote with Republicans and yes, will work with Democrats. No big deal. It will be on what issues Sen.-elect Brown would work with Democrats on. That is where we will need to watch carefully.
Again, these are reasons why Scott Brown is a senator-elect. Much needed independence.
